Overwatch 2 Arrives on Steam in August: Free Download and Achievements

Blizzard continues to evolve as a studio, and one of the goals is to reach players all over the world, making their games as accessible as possible. To achieve this, the company has decided to bring some of its games to the Steam platform, and the debut will be with Overwatch 2, available from August 10th.

Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment, explained that the objective is to meet players' expectations. Even with Battle.net being a priority, they recognize the players' demand for titles on Steam and decided to bring Overwatch 2 to Valve's platform. The collaboration with Valve is seen as an opportunity to boost the game's development and its features.

Overwatch 2 is a free team-based game and offers a unique experience to players. With the release of "Invasion," players will be able to enjoy new types of gameplay after seven years of the game's history. The game will include the first set of PvE Story Missions, a new PvP mode with two additional maps, and a new hero, making it even more appealing to newcomers and veterans of the Overwatch universe.

The presence of Overwatch 2 on Steam will not replace Battle.net; the existing community will still be able to access the game in the same way. However, Steam players will need to link their Overwatch 2 accounts to enjoy cross-platform features. Additionally, integration with Steam brings additional benefits.

Steam players will be able to use platform tools such as achievements, friend lists, and match invitations, providing a complete and integrated experience.
