Omega Crafter 1.0 arrives on May 14th with a new biome, creative mode, and cooperative multiplayer.
Prepare your helper robot and sharpen your tools: the curious and charismatic Omega Crafter will come out of the oven of Early Access and receive its long-awaited version 1.0 on May 14, 2025, exclusively for PC via Steam. And if you enjoy open-world survival games with a touch of automation and lots of crafting, it's worth keeping an eye out - but with some caveats.
First and foremost, the game is developed and published by Preferred Network, a Japanese company better known for artificial intelligence solutions than for games. Omega Crafter is, in practice, their first serious foray into the gaming market - and the title has attracted attention since it was released in Early Access at the end of March 2024. Even with simple visuals and a still evolving structure, the game managed to gather a loyal player base thanks to its creative system and the charm of the assistant robot Grammi.
Version 1.0 arrives with lots of new features: new biome, creative mode and more
The main attraction of version 1.0 will be the addition of a fifth biome: the "Lost Worlds". It is a region with arid climate and futuristic visuals, which promises to challenge players even more with new enemies, environmental obstacles, and unique materials. And that's not all: new building materials arrive, improvements in the automation system, and, perhaps the highlight for sandbox fans, the awaited "Creative Mode", where all resources will be unlocked from the start, allowing full focus on creativity without the limitations of gathering.
The world inside a game being made
The proposal of Omega Crafter is original: you play inside a fictional game that is under development and has been attacked by an unknown program. Your mission is to finish creating this world before everything collapses. For this, you collect resources, face enemies, build structures, and even manage an entire city.
During this journey, the highlight is Grammi, a programmable robot that can be assigned tasks such as cutting trees, mining, transporting objects, creating items... and even dancing. It's almost like a mix of Minecraft with Factorio, seasoned with a friendly low-poly aesthetic and hints of robotic humor.
"Grammi is your ideal survival companion. He can automate much of the heavy work, freeing the player to focus on exploration and creation," says Preferred Network.
Cooperative multiplayer for up to 5 players
Another strong point of Omega Crafter is the online cooperative multiplayer mode, which allows playing with up to five players simultaneously. The entire automation, construction, and exploration system can be shared among players, adding an interesting layer of strategy and task division. Imagine a team where one takes care of mining, another of construction, while a third programs the Grammi for repetitive tasks.
But not everything is perfect: does the game deliver what it promises?
Despite the creative proposal and constant evolution, Omega Crafter still faces criticism due to its simplistic visuals, lack of polish in certain mechanics, and inconsistent performance on some machines - points that the community hopes to see resolved in this final update. Additionally, as is common in games of this type, the balance between fun and repetition can become a long-term issue.
Still, with the full release scheduled for May 14, 2025, the title gets a new chance to show its full potential, especially if it can expand the community and attract content creators interested in exploring the vast programmable world of the game.
Technical summary - What's coming in Omega Crafter version 1.0
Release date: May 14, 2025 (PC via Steam)
Creative Mode: All resources unlocked from the start
New Biome: "Lost Worlds" (sandy and futuristic environment)
Online Multiplayer: Cooperative for up to 5 players
Automation: Task programming with the robot Grammi
Improvements: New building materials and refinements in automation
With one foot in experimentation and the other in collective fun, Omega Crafter tries to establish itself as a light and creative alternative in the saturated genre of survival games. Now it remains to be seen if Preferred Network will deliver a cohesive package - and that Grammi doesn't decide to start dancing in the middle of your automated city.
