Oblivion Remastered maintains classic voice glitch and fans are grateful

The newly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, developed by Bethesda in partnership with Virtuos, brings back one of the most iconic RPGs of 2006 with robust graphical updates - but keeping its original essence intact. A notable example of this is the preservation of iconic dubbing errors, including the famous speech repetition of the character Tandilwee, kept exactly as in the original version.

"Wait a minute, let me try again. I heard thieves broke into the Arcane University, the Imperial Legion compound, and the Temple - all in the same night!", says Tandilwee. The passage, which should have been edited, was preserved as a nod to the peculiar charm of the original game.

Furthermore, the classic scene of the bandit on the bridge to Kvatch, who threatens the player for gold and then gives up fighting, has also been kept. The possibility of stealing the gold back remains, reinforcing the freedom of action that has established Oblivion as one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

Other details such as exaggerated close-ups during dialogues with NPCs and the visual persuasion system are still there, only with visual improvements compatible with current standards.

The remastered version is not just an aesthetic update. The project recreates environments, character models, and visual effects with modern technology, but without erasing the personality of the original game. Many dialogues have been re-recorded, but iconic lines and beloved errors by the community have been deliberately kept.

The re-release reignites the debate about what makes a remaster faithful to the original spirit. Bethesda had already mentioned, in past editions of MGN Magazine, the intention to preserve "the chaotic and charismatic DNA that marked Oblivion."
