No Auto Trophies for Cyberpunk 2077 Owners Switching from PS4 to PS5

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on the PlayStation 5, and hallelujah โ€“ it actually works! Our first impressions of this new-gen version are particularly positive, and while there are still underlying problems with the game itself, at least itโ€™s not crashing every hour anymore. If you braved through the PS4 version, however, thereโ€™s a catch: no automatic Trophies.

Fans are divided on how Sony handles free PS4 to PS5 upgrades, but for Trophy hunters thereโ€™s a huge positive to its approach: you can get a gameโ€™s trinkets twice. Typically, in titles like Ghost of Tsushima: Directorโ€™s Cut, when importing your save youโ€™ll unlock all the Trophies youโ€™ve already achieved โ€“ potentially resulting in a free Platinum pot. But in CD Projekt REDโ€™s sci-fi epic, thatโ€™s not the case.

While the save transfer is, frankly, the smoothest weโ€™ve seen on PS5 to date โ€“ it just works โ€“ you wonโ€™t get a single Trophy when loading in your old PS4 save. This, according to the developer, is because itโ€™s a โ€œdifferent SKUโ€. But to be honest, so are the likes of Death Stranding: Directorโ€™s Cut and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, so weโ€™re not sure we buy this explanation.

Ultimately, it means youโ€™re going to have to set aside another 100 hours or so to play through this game and get all the Trophies again, but now that it works as intended thatโ€™s perhaps not the worst idea in the world. You can check out our Cyberpunk 2077 Trophy guide through the link if youโ€™re looking for some help.

Itโ€™s perhaps the only blight on what otherwise seems to be a very solid re-release, but we suppose itโ€™s not the end of the world.ย
