No Auto Trophies for Cyberpunk 2077 Owners Switching from PS4 to PS5
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on the PlayStation 5, and hallelujah โ it actually works! Our first impressions of this new-gen version are particularly positive, and while there are still underlying problems with the game itself, at least itโs not crashing every hour anymore. If you braved through the PS4 version, however, thereโs a catch: no automatic Trophies.
Fans are divided on how Sony handles free PS4 to PS5 upgrades, but for Trophy hunters thereโs a huge positive to its approach: you can get a gameโs trinkets twice. Typically, in titles like Ghost of Tsushima: Directorโs Cut, when importing your save youโll unlock all the Trophies youโve already achieved โ potentially resulting in a free Platinum pot. But in CD Projekt REDโs sci-fi epic, thatโs not the case.
While the save transfer is, frankly, the smoothest weโve seen on PS5 to date โ it just works โ you wonโt get a single Trophy when loading in your old PS4 save. This, according to the developer, is because itโs a โdifferent SKUโ. But to be honest, so are the likes of Death Stranding: Directorโs Cut and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, so weโre not sure we buy this explanation.
Ultimately, it means youโre going to have to set aside another 100 hours or so to play through this game and get all the Trophies again, but now that it works as intended thatโs perhaps not the worst idea in the world. You can check out our Cyberpunk 2077 Trophy guide through the link if youโre looking for some help.
Itโs perhaps the only blight on what otherwise seems to be a very solid re-release, but we suppose itโs not the end of the world.ย
