Nintendo of Japan informed investors about an agreement with Bandai Namco Studios Inc. for the acquisition of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore Pte. Ltd., with the goal of strengthening its development structure. The studio, focused on creating assets for games, will be renamed to Nintendo Studios Singapore Pte. Ltd., becoming one of the rare studios of Nintendo located outside of Japan.

The acquisition formalizes an existing working relationship. Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has worked on several games from Nintendo over the years, including Splatoon titles. Other notable projects in which the studio has collaborated include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokkén and New Pokémon Snap. The latest Nintendo game in the collaboration is Kirby Air Riders.

The purchase process will be divided: Nintendo will acquire 80% of the shares on April 1, 2026. The remaining 20% will be bought on a date yet to be announced. The Japanese company sees the acquisition as a strategic step to strengthen its internal production capacity.
