Nexus Mods removes mod that adds Trump to Marvel Rivals

After executing the site rules and removing a Mod that adds Trump and Biden (the last two presidents of the United States), the Nexus Mod site found itself in the midst of a political drama. However, as mentioned before, the site was just following its rules!

The two Mods add the head of Trump or Biden to the body of Captain America in Marvel Rivals, a game from NetEase. It's clearly funny, but the site's policies are firm and amid discussions in X, the site owner, Dark0ne, responded to some users who were complaining about the "censorship of Nexus Mods".

Regarding this, Dark0ne emphasized that the Biden mod had also been removed "at the same time (on January 2) to ensure there was no bias", before going on to say that people were "coming out of nowhere sending us death threats" with the incorrect assumption that "we are just removing Trump mods". The site owner added: "It's so stupid, and these people are so stupid, that I really can't be bothered with it".

Today, the official Nexus Mods account at X shared a new topic addressing the "misinformation" surrounding the mods, which it wants to "clarify and put to rest quickly". It says that the site "has always been about building a positive modding community. Unfortunately, some of the content uploaded on the site becomes a magnet for conflict, division, and crowd harassment".

Continuing, it notes that its Terms of Service were changed in 2020 to fully prohibit "any American political mods".

In a statement released at the time, he explained that this was due to "the low quality of the mods submitted, the polarized views they express, and the fact that a small, but vocal, contingent of our users apparently is not smart or mature enough to be able to debate the issues without resorting to insults and baseless accusations".

As written in the site's File Submission Guidelines, it was decided after a review to "extend the ban on such mods indefinitely" and therefore these rules have been in effect for over four years.
