New Game of Thrones RPG arrives on the 21st with final version for PC and mobile
The final version of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, a new free online RPG set in Westeros, will be globally released on May 21, 2025 for PC, iOS, and Android. The title, developed by Netmarble in partnership with Warner Bros., aims to deliver a faithful recreation of the HBO series universe, focusing on action, adventure, and real-time exploration.
The game has been in early access on Steam since March 26, allowing part of the community to experience the initial content and provide technical and structural feedback. According to the developer, this period was essential for adjustments in combat mechanics, environment exploration, progression systems, and boss battles, aiming to improve player retention.
The central proposal of the game is to provide a narrative immersion in the series universe, with known characters and locations, in cooperative missions and PvE events. Netmarble states that development will continue even after the official launch:
“We will continue working based on community feedback to improve every aspect of the game.”
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will be a free-to-play title with optional microtransactions, a model already common in previous releases from Netmarble, such as Lineage 2: Revolution and The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.
This release marks the first major game of the Game of Thrones franchise after the cancellation of internal projects at Telltale Games and the lukewarm reception of previous titles like Game of Thrones: Conquest. With the global launch, the expectation is that Kingsroad will reach a broader player base and inaugurate a new phase of interactive experiences in the universe of George R.R. Martin.
