Movie of Until Dawn will tell a different story from the original game
At CES 2025, even talking about technology, brought several news about movies and adaptations of games, one of them was Until Dawn, which had its filming completed in 2024, and we are just waiting for the first trailer, however we haven't had many images yet, just details about the narrative.
According to TechRadar, Peter Stormare appeared on stage to tease the movie. He will reprise his role from the games as Dr. Alan J. Hill in the film and seems to be one of the only links between the stories as they are. He confirmed that the film will be in the Until Dawn universe, but will have a new plot and cast of victims.
Some teaser images of the upcoming film were also shown on stage, but have not been made public yet. The original game was released in 2015 and featured a choose-your-own-adventure narrative, in which players controlled eight adults who had to try to survive the night. Based on Blackwood Mountain, the story begins with a ill-fated party at an isolated lodge.
Every decision causes ripples in the narrative, which means there are hundreds of potential endings. Among the stars of the game were Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, but neither of them will return for the next film.
Instead, the project – directed by David F. Sandberg, from Shazam – stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo and Odessa A'zion. The release is scheduled for April 25, 2025, but no trailer has been released yet.
The decision to change the story may be a bit complicated for the creative team, which may end up deviating a bit from the game's premise, however, being a game with multiple endings, the film ends up having more freedom on what to do with the game's story!
