Mortal Kombat 1 receives trailer recreating classic 90s commercial

This is Mortal Kombat!

Warner Bros. Games has released a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 that recreates a classic 90s commercial for the original Mortal Kombat. Also in live-action, the new trailer features actor Dave Bautista, who gained fame for his role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Similar to the classic commercial, we see people shouting "Mortal Kombat" and running through the streets. We also catch glimpses of people exhibiting certain powers seen in Mortal Kombat.

Dave Bautista commented on the classic commercial and the new version.
 

"I vividly remember the original Mortal Monday commercial, especially that iconic shout. It's what kick-started my journey as a Mortal Kombat fan, which continues to this day, 30 years later. I'm very excited and honored to be a part of the game's legacy," he said.

Meanwhile, Ed Boon treated the video as a tribute to the 90s commercial.
 

"The original Mortal Monday commercial marked the beginning of our journey in creating games for home systems. It's amazing to pay tribute to such a memorable moment in Mortal Kombat history as we prepare to release our newest game, Mortal Kombat 1," he commented.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
