Monster Hunter Wilds sells 10 million copies and is already making history for Capcom
New title of the franchise achieves record sales in just one month and promises more updates in the future
If anyone still doubted the power of the Monster Hunter franchise, Capcom has just presented another impressive number. Monster Hunter Wilds reached the milestone of 10 million copies sold in record time, establishing itself as the fastest-selling release in the company's history.
The game had already impressed in the first days, selling 8 million units in just three days. Now, with a month on the market, it confirms its strength and is on track to become one of Capcom's biggest successes.
A success that didn't come out of nowhere
The phenomenon of Monster Hunter Wilds did not happen by chance. Capcom attributes the excellent performance to the natural evolution of the franchise, which has been gaining more and more fans over the years. In addition, the game brought a series of novelties that helped attract both veteran players and newcomers.
As a result, Wilds already occupies the seventh position among the best-selling titles of Capcom, coming very close to surpassing Resident Evil Village, which has 11 million units sold.
But the biggest challenge is yet to come: reaching Monster Hunter: World, which remains the best-selling game of the company, with 21.3 million copies (not counting the Iceborne expansion).
If sales continue at this level, Monster Hunter Wilds has everything to become one of the most successful games in the franchise's history.
Updates on the way: first major update already has a date
To keep the game popular, Capcom has already announced the first major update, scheduled for April 4th. According to the company, the update will bring new content, and other expansion packs are already planned for the coming months.
Capcom's strategy follows the successful model of Monster Hunter: World, which remained relevant for years with constant updates and seasonal events.
Now, the big question is: Will Wilds be able to reach 20 million sales like World? If the overwhelming start is any indication, it seems like it will.
