The Japanese developer has decided to kick the bucket of conformity and bring back historical figures from its golden era to enhance the game's gameplay. Instead of merely recycling the basic and bland cast that often plagues modern fighting games, SNK sent the community into a frenzy by announcing the return of the iconic taekwondo master Kim Kaphwan. The champion of righteousness appears with a slightly older look on screen but shows he's in excellent physical condition to deliver his traditional acrobatic kicks. The other major announcement is the arrival of Duck King, the most charismatic eccentric dancer in the rings, who had previously made small appearances in the background of the storyline with a revamped visual identity and will finally be a playable fighter. This kind of attention to the brand's origins is reassuring, proving that the company still knows how to please those who spent their tokens in classic arcades.

This wave of heavy nostalgia and explosive revelations began to take shape backstage after the circulation of enigmatic teasers on the internet in recent weeks, teasing the audience's curiosity with silhouettes of two other warriors. Now, fans have received confirmation that the boxer Rick Strowd and the imposing Laocorn Gaudeamus will be part of the heavyweight cast of the third season of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The images suggest that the relentless Laocorn will take on the role of the main antagonist in this phase of the game, assuming a tyrannical boss function very similar to the role that the classic Wolfgang Krauser played in the previous content package.

"The King of Ducks and the Champion of Justice will return to their original franchises once more."

Though the producer has promised that users will be treated to the debut of a new additional character in DLC format each month, the directors chose to keep it under wraps and did not disclose the chronological order in which these updates will arrive in the game. Additionally, the presentation trailer left two empty slots, concealing the names of the other two characters that will complete the cast this season. This game of concealment is a silly corporate tactic to stretch online engagement, but the addition of these four veterans is already enough reason to ensure that the fights become much more dynamic and challenging. The tactical brawling of the fighting game remains available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.
