Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has a complicated release on Steam!

Sony continues to release its games for PC and this time we have the arrival of Marvel’s Spider Man 2, which had a rather strange arrival. The game did not have as much marketing as other Sony releases for PC, which seemed a bit strange.

The PC version started its days with mixed reviews and doesn't seem to reach a satisfactory peak of players, like its predecessors did when they were released.

Comments aside, however, the launch numbers of player counts seem like they could be doing a bit better. According to SteamDB, the game reached a peak of 27,775 simultaneous player counts yesterday, and at the time this article was written, it was about a thousand below that now.

There is a chance it will surpass that peak later today, as gaming times usually peak at night, but for comparison, the first game in the series, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, reached a historic peak of 66,436, more than double the peak of its sequel, and the fourth most played game on Steam for PlayStation (Helldivers 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and God of War are above it).

There are many reasons why this may be the case; one is that many players may not even realize that the PSN requirement has been removed, something that has become more and more infamous with each subsequent PlayStation release. Another reason may be that many of these PlayStation versions were rough at launch, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in players. I'm sure an update for Spider-Man 2 is on the way, eventually.
