Main character of Silent Hill f, Konatsu Kato becomes a phenomenon on YouTube
The actress Konatsu Kato, who plays the protagonist Hinako Shimizu in Silent Hill f, became a phenomenon on social networks after live-streaming her own experience with the new horror game on PS5. The first chapter of Kato's gameplay on YouTube surpassed 1.5 million views in just a few days, boosting her channel to over 100,000 subscribers since last week.
The engagement of Kato turned her debut as a streamer into one of the most talked-about moments in the Silent Hill community this end of the month. The actress had promised fans who would follow her journey within the universe she acted in and has already scheduled the next live for October 29.
This success is a positive point for the promotion of the title, but the actress's experience in development raises a critical point about the psychological tension of the game. Before the release, Kato had reported intense emotional moments during filming.
In an interview with Famitsu, Kato detailed the psychological weight of her character:
"She felt like she was going crazy" and other times she ended up "crying for no reason".
Because of this history of filming, many admirers were surprised to see her revisiting the plot as a player. However, Kato stated that returning to the game was a personal promise made to the audience and that she intends to "fulfill until the end".
