Lucid Games opens new headquarters in Liverpool to boost the Baltic Triangle

The company Lucid Games has announced the opening of a new office in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with an inauguration planned for November. The strategic move of the company, owned by LightSpeed Studios since 2023, aims to expand its presence and solidify Liverpool as a gaming hub in the north of the United Kingdom.

The main positive point of the announcement is the location and purpose of the new headquarters: the office will be in the Baltic Triangle district, which Lucid Games considers to have a "bold street art, skate parks, and repurposed warehouses" that reflect its creative spirit. The new headquarters will "serve as a space for Lucid Games to grow as a leading force in Liverpool's growing gaming sector" and offer a "creative and inclusive space for experienced and newly graduated employees entering the gaming industry".

Nick Davies, COO of Lucid Games, emphasized that the growth will remain tied to the company's roots, which is positive information for the local job market. The COO stated:

"With the studio's growth over the past 15 years, it has become important for us to now expand our presence, but also remain based in our roots in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle."

Davies also assured that the new office will provide "better collaboration, enhanced infrastructure, and, most importantly, room to grow, so our team has a comfortable home where they can continue to produce their best work."

However, the announcement comes at a time of uncertainty for the independent studio market after acquisitions. Lucid Games was acquired by LightSpeed Studios in 2023. Although physical expansion and job creation are positive steps, the fact that the company has not detailed the exact number of positions to be filled or what will be the specific development focus of this new headquarters creates an information gap. Lucid Games is known for developing Destruction AllStars. The expansion therefore indicates pressure to increase production volume under LightSpeed Studios.
