List of nominees for the Grammy for Best Video Game Soundtrack!
The end of the year is very close, and with it we have, not only new announcements and big releases, but also awards of all kinds, and in the world of games it couldn't be different. The news this time is about the exclusive category that the Grammy has added, being: “Best video game soundtrack.”
Something very important, since many games have brought a wonderful musical experience, with games paying total attention to it, and approaching it in different ways, sometimes incorporating it into the gameplay, going beyond just giving an atmosphere to the scenario. (Source: VGC)
This is already the third year that games have this recognition from the Grammy, and now we have the nominees:
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Pinar Toprak, composer
- God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla – Bear McCreary, composer
- Marvel’s Spider Man 2 – John Paesano, composer
- Star Wars Outlaws – Wilbert Roget, II, composer
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord – Winifred Phillips, composer
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla from Insomniac Games and Sony, Santa Monica Studio, respectively, represent the PlayStation contingent. Last year's award went to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Outlaws could secure the IP for the second consecutive year, along with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which is part of Ubisoft. Incredibly, as this marks the third anniversary of the award, the composer of Ragnarok, Bear McCreary, has been nominated every year so far: first for Call of Duty: Vanguard, then for Ragnarok and now for the DLC, Valhalla.
Now we await to find out who should be awarded. Who do you think was the best this year?
