Cooperative mode arrives on August 17

The Vampire Survivors update that adds the cooperative mode is close to arriving and, this Tuesday (11), during the ID@Xbox Showcase, held in partnership with IGN, more details about the mode were presented.

The cooperative mode is local only, allowing up to three other friends to join you, so you will have access to all content that is already available in single player mode.

When you join, each player can select a character, it is not possible for two players or more to choose the same character in the same match.

As for the levels, the experience bar is the same and players will level up in turns, so one at a time will level up. If one of the characters dies, the level increase passes to the next player.

Now, if any player dies in cooperative mode, they turn into a coffin and, over time, they will revive. According to the Poncle team, it's important to make sure the coffin stays free of enemies, the reason? We don't know yet.

As you level up, you'll be able to choose your weapons, as usual, but the amount of weapons you can have will depend on how many friends are in the match. So already think about the strategy of who will get which weapons.

The studio pointed out that there are no specific achievements for the cooperative mode and that existing achievements unlock normally.

The game continues to take place on a single screen, so be careful that your friends and you are not lost in different corners.

In addition, a new item will be added for the cooperative mode, the Friendship Amulet, it can appear on the screen when someone levels up and will increase the level of a random weapon for each player.

According to the studio, the cooperative mode was a feature much requested by the Vampire Survivors community.

"It was high on our to-do list, a lot because we think it's a lot of fun! Some of our favorite games have local co-op. We find that games we play together with friends offer the best gaming memories, so we wanted this to work, even with the challenges that would arise (and just like a vampire in the night, they did)!" said Geo Morgan, Senior Marketing Manager at Poncle.

"In turning a single-player experience into a co-op one, we had a lot of gameplay issues to work through, so we hope you feel like we chose those decisions well and that you enjoy the new mode!", he continued.

The studio made it clear that they always listen to community feedback and encouraged players to contact them via Twitter or Discord.

Geo Morgan closes by saying that there are some things that have not been reported and should be discovered when the update is released on August 17.

Vampire Survivors is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android and iOS. The title is also in the Xbox Game Pass catalog and arrives on Nintendo Switch on August 17.
