Launch of GTA VI in 2026 generates caution in the industry

The postponement of GTA VI to May 26, 2026 caused a chain reaction in the gaming industry. According to journalist Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, who correctly anticipated the date change, the title is still in intense production, but with internal uncertainties.

“There is no guarantee that May 2026 is definitive”, stated Schreier in a recent report.
“It's like a four-dimensional chess game happening across the industry. Business analysts from all major companies are trying to guess if Rockstar will actually deliver GTA 6 on time to adjust their own releases”, added the journalist, reflecting the atmosphere of uncertainty that the delay caused in the sector.

The postponement impacts not only players' expectations, but also the strategic release schedules of major competitors. Studios are now reassessing dates and announcements, attempting to avoid direct confrontation with one of the most anticipated releases of the decade. The history of Grand Theft Auto V, which surpassed 185 million units sold, reinforces the fear that any title released close to GTA VI will be overshadowed.

Reliable leakers suggest that if GTA VI had been released at the end of 2025, as initially planned, the game would not be in ideal conditions. Even with the release of the second trailer and official information about the protagonists Jason and Lucia, the production still lacks a solid schedule.

As a palliative alternative and to keep the calendar active, rumors indicate that Rockstar may release a remastered version of GTA IV for modern consoles in 2025. The information came from insider TezFun, known for consistent leaks involving the franchise, and suggests that the project has been in production for over a year and is practically finished.

While GTA VI remains in development, speculations about its scenarios and mechanics continue to emerge. The game will be set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, and will bring back Vice City, as well as possible future expansions involving Liberty City, speculated as post-launch DLC. Until then, the industry and players are in a waiting game, adjusting their expectations as new pieces are moved on this complex board.
