KRAFTON offers voluntary resignation focused on the goal of being "AI-first"
At KRAFTON, the publisher of Subnautica 2 and PUBG, has launched a voluntary resignation program for its Korean team, at a time when the company is accelerating its transformation to become an "AI-first company". The program, which began on November 12, offers special severance packages estimated between six and 36 months of salary, depending on the level and length of service.
This move has raised criticism about the true intention of the reorganization, despite KRAFTON insisting that the goal is not to reduce the workforce.
KRAFTON had announced the new strategic position last month, before reporting a "record" cumulative performance in its Q3 2025 financial report. The publisher stated that it would start to "prioritize AI as a central and primary means of problem solving" and "foster change in individuals and organizations, increase productivity across the company, and accelerate medium to long-term corporate value growth."
A KRAFTON spokesperson told Business Korea (reported by Automaton): “The core purpose is to support members in proactively designing their growth direction and embarking on new challenges, both inside and outside the company, amid the AI transformation era.” The spokesperson added: “The company plans to support members in autonomously deciding to continue the direction of change internally or expand externally.”
KRAFTON initiated a voluntary resignation program on November 12 in Korea, offering packages of six to 36 months of salary, as part of its strategic goal to become an "AI-first company". The company claims that the program aims to support employees in new challenges and is not focused on workforce reduction, despite the announcement coming shortly after the Q3 2025 financial report.
