Kirby Is Getting An Official Concert To Celebrate His 30th Birthday

Put on you conductor's hat.

The Kirby series' 30th anniversary is fast approaching, as is the release of the pink puffball's next game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land. And it looks like we're going to have a big music festival to celebrate one of Nintendo's most recognisable, and cutest, characters.

For a moment, we were ready to be disappointed. Nintendo UK shared the Grand Opening from the series' 25th Anniversary concert. And, as good as that concert was, we thought that was all we were going to get. Luckily, just a little while later, the official Kirby account shared its plans for the round guy's next big celebration (thanks, Nibel).

The Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival will take place on 11th August, and it will be streamed online via the official Kirby YouTube channel for free! That's better than a Maximum Tomato.

While we don't know anything specific about the concert — such as prices or what time it's airing — the official website does have this to say:

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Kirby, a one-time-only music festival will be held featuring a large big band-style ensemble of 35 musicians performing in a variety of genres!

This event is a musical event in which you can enjoy original medleys of songs from past titles in the series while reminiscing on your memories with them.

A large LED monitor at the venue will also feature a moving Kirby! We look forward to having an exciting festival together with everyone.

We hope to meet you all at the online venue!

We imagine, along with a Kirby-sized mouthful of classic songs, we'll be given a few appetizers of Kirby and the Forgotten Land tracks to celebrate the new release.

Japan is getting a little something extra, too. On 15th April, the My Nintendo Store will be releasing a collection of medals to celebrate all things Kirby. These feature our rosy, smiley friend doing all manner of Kirby-related activities, such as sleeping, surfing on stars, and floating. There's even a medal that's a nod to his much-earlier Game Boy design, with slightly pointier hands.
