Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 arrives unafraid of the competition
February 2025 is full of big releases, and the competition for players' attention has never been so fierce. Amid heavyweights such as Monster Hunter Wilds, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Avowed, Warhorse Studios releases Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 without fear of being overshadowed.
But it hasn't always been that way. When the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance arrived in 2018, the studio was still trying to find its place among industry giants. Now, with an even more ambitious game and a loyal fan base, the developer is confident that it can compete on equal terms.
For Ondřej Bittner, senior game designer on the project, Warhorse Studios has learned to deal with competition and is not afraid to share the spotlight with big franchises:
"Now we have learned, in a way, to sit at the big boys' table. We are very confident in our own product."
A Month of Important Releases
The release window of February is always a challenge for publishers, as titles compete for space and run the risk of falling below sales expectations.
In addition to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the list of games for the month includes:
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
- Avowed
- Skull and Bones
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (updates and expansion)
- Helldivers 2
The month could have been even more competitive, as Assassin’s Creed Shadows was also scheduled for this window, but Ubisoft decided to postpone it to March.
With an increasingly competitive market, do you think Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be able to carve out its space? Do you think the game has the strength to compete with the big ones?
