A possible new arcade racing game may be in development under the provisional title of "Sonic Crossworlds", bringing together characters from Sonic the Hedgehog, Minecraft, and SpongeBob in a kart experience focused on crossovers. The information was disclosed by an unofficial source and has not yet been confirmed by any of the companies involved.

According to the leak, the project seems to follow the mold of franchises like Mario Kart and Team Sonic Racing, but with an even more ambitious proposal: to integrate multiple popular intellectual properties into a single multiverse experience. The game would feature classic characters from the Sega universe, iconic figures from the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, and representatives of the Minecraft brand, currently one of the best-selling IPs in history with over 300 million copies.

The name "Sonic Crossworlds" has not been officially confirmed yet, but it suggests a thematic approach focused on interconnected worlds — something that echoes the concept already explored in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Multiversus. The bet on multiple playable universes has become a recurring trend in the industry, especially due to its nostalgic appeal and high engagement capacity with diverse audiences.

Although there are no images, trailers, or confirmed technical details, the supposed game would be in development for current generation consoles, with possibilities of versions for PC and mobile devices. No information has been disclosed about the engine used or the studios directly involved in the project. The presence of multiple IPs, however, indicates licensing negotiations between Sega, Mojang Studios (owned by Microsoft), and Nickelodeon, controlled by Paramount Global.

The use of characters like Sonic, Steve, Creeper, SpongeBob, and Patrick Star in a single game allows for significant variations in track design, special abilities, and customizations — fundamental elements to differentiate a racing game amidst genre saturation.

So far, Sega and the other mentioned companies have not officially commented on the leak. However, this type of project reinforces the current direction of major publishers in creating licensed products with intergenerational appeal and high monetization potential through additional content or DLCs.

If confirmed, "Sonic Crossworlds" would join the already long list of character-based racing titles, such as Nickelodeon Kart Racers, Disney Speedstorm, Garfield Kart, and the classic CTR - Crash Team Racing. It remains to be seen if the game will enter the market with enough content to compete with established giants in the genre.
