Kamiya comments on the reason for leaving PlatinumGames
Just like in any job, the time always comes for veterans to rest and put into practice everything that has been shown to them. And in the gaming industry, this has been happening quite frequently, always involving gigantic names from popular studios.
This time, we are talking about Hideki Kamiya, one of the founders of PlatinumGames and responsible for franchises like Okami, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, among other great games. He, who decided to leave his company in 2023, but did not explain the reason, which until today was a great mystery.
In an interview for the Game Spark website, Kamiya revealed that he did not agree with the direction the studio was taking, even though he did not expose which factors, he reports that he only needed to "save his soul."
Not only him, but it is worth noting that a series of developers and even people from other sectors have decided to leave PlatinumGames, which leads us to speculate that there is certainly something wrong there.
Now, working with the Clovers studio, the artist will have a great reunion with Okami 2, which is one of his main creations. Not that this is enough to motivate Kamiya, but there is no way to be happier.
