IO Interactive details new projects for Hitman and 007
The future of IO Interactive will be officially unveiled on June 6th, at 10pm (Brasília time), in a digital showcase streamed on YouTube, focusing on updates for the Hitman, 007 franchises, and other IPs from the studio. The stream will take place right after Summer Game Fest 2025, marking the beginning of a new phase for the Danish studio, which currently also serves as a publisher through the IOI Partners division.
Among the highlights, the presentation will bring news about HITMAN World of Assassination, a title that is celebrating 25 years of the franchise and will receive a special edition called Signature Edition. This re-release is confirmed as one of the launch titles for Switch 2, arriving on the console on June 5th, with technical adjustments and compatibility with the new controls. The commemorative edition will also receive new content and collaborations, focusing on maintaining the series' longevity on current generation consoles.
Another highlight is 007 First Light, the official name of the highly anticipated new James Bond game, developed by IO Interactive itself. It is an original project — not tied to the films — with a unique narrative focus on stealth and espionage. According to the studio, the title will be fully revealed in the showcase, ending months of speculation since its initial announcement in 2020. It was also confirmed that 007 First Light will have a version for Switch 2, although the other platforms have not been officially disclosed yet.
The event will also provide information about MindsEye, an action-adventure game with a continuous narrative, produced by Build A Rocket Boy and distributed by IOI Partners. The title, set to be released on June 10, 2025, promises to deliver premium content monthly, offering an expansive and vibrant world structure — a growing trend among independent studios with live service ambitions.
In addition to the three main projects, the showcase will also feature "additional surprises and special guests," as teased in the official announcement. The expectation is that IO Interactive will also reveal more about its role as a publisher and its investments in new IPs for the next generation.
The IOI showcase will be a key moment to assess how the studio intends to expand its intellectual properties and reposition itself in the industry after years focused on Hitman, which has become one of the most respected stealth series in the market.
