Internship at Insomniac includes project on Wolverine for PS5
The development of Marvel's Wolverine, by Insomniac Games, is ongoing, and the news now is that part of the production team of the title will include interns. The initiative is part of the internship program of PlayStation Studios, aimed at students interested in starting a career in the game development industry.
The opportunity will be offered during the summer of 2025 in the United States, and the selected individuals will be able to work directly on internal projects of Insomniac, including the highly anticipated Wolverine game, exclusive to PlayStation 5. The studio, based in Burbank, California, is responsible for heavyweight franchises such as Ratchet & Clank and the recent series of Spider-Man games, one of the biggest critical and sales successes of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) this generation.
"Insomniac and SIE are excited to welcome a new generation of innovators this summer, who will 'sharpen their claws' at our studio, working on exciting projects like Marvel's Wolverine," the developer said in a statement.
"To our interns: let's push the boundaries of what it means to play together!"
The program, in addition to putting students in contact with professional pipelines of AAA game development, is an indication of the current production stage of Marvel's Wolverine, which, despite the silence since its announcement in 2021, remains active behind the scenes. The absence of trailers or new concrete information since then raises doubts about its release window, but the inclusion of interns suggests that the game is in an intermediate production phase.
The Sony has been adopting an increasingly robust strategy in educational and training initiatives, especially through its first-party studios. Involving young talents in high-profile projects is also a way to reinforce its commitment to renewing the company's creative workforce, something that has become a recurring topic in the face of waves of layoffs and restructuring in other industry studios.
So far, Marvel's Wolverine has no official release date, and few details about its gameplay have been revealed. According to previous statements from Insomniac, the game will not be directly connected to the Spider-Man game universe, although it shares the same technical expertise, engine, and cinematic narrative direction that made the Spider-Man series a success.
The PlayStation has not disclosed the number of internship positions or the complete selection criteria, but has reinforced that the program is part of an ongoing approach to strengthen ties with students and academic institutions focused on technology and digital art.
