Hogwarts Legacy 2: with a sequel in development, a petition begins
Nowadays we have several companies that replicate the "Game as a Service" style, which is certainly very evil on the part of some companies and very wonderful on the part of others, it all depends on how it is approached and unfortunately we do not have many wonderful parts honestly.
With that, we know that Warner Bros. Games is already aiming to make the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, from Avalanche Software as soon as possible, since the first game sold very well, even surpassing Call of Duty released that year (Not that this is of much necessity, but it is still important to remember that even though it is very poorly done, the Activision franchise always wins in these numbers, losing only to Rockstar Games).
Now with the success that the game achieved, Warner has many fans, not only from games, but from the Harry Potter saga, with players who will certainly play the next one. But how will it be?
Concerned about the approach of games as a service, fans of Harry Potter have mobilized around a public petition. Currently, the petition has over 10,000 signatures asking Warner to work on a single-player game.
This movement is also supported by a recent statement from Warner Bros. Discovery's games and streaming CEO, JB Perrette. At the time, he stated that adding microtransactions to their main franchises would be a good "opportunity."
"The reason Hogwarts Legacy is so loved and became the best-selling game of the year is because it was a single-player experience that just wanted to be a fun game that people could enjoy and experience the Wizarding World for themselves. People don't want a live service full of microtransactions and a forced routine."
Perrette's statements do not officially confirm that the game will have elements of GaaS. However, as Warner's most recent releases follow this path and discussions about spending on game content intensify, concerns become evident.
This of course, also comes from the game of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which followed that path and even after community criticism and warnings, it ended up simply being a failure.
