GTA 6 gains new trailer focusing on Lucia and Jason
Without prior notice, Rockstar Games revealed on May 6 the second trailer of GTA 6, reigniting the focus on protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, central characters of the new story set in the fictional state of Leonida. The video release comes shortly after the announcement that the game has been delayed to May 26, 2026, pushing back one of the most anticipated premieres of the decade.
The new preview focuses on the reunion of the duo after Lucia leaves prison and quickly joins Jason in a criminal routine. The trailer showcases scenes of heists, escapes, shootouts, and interactions with other characters in the plot, suggesting an even denser and more reactive open-world dynamic than in previous titles of the franchise.
Rockstar also published a dedicated page with profiles of the main characters. Jason Duval, for example, is a former soldier who "joined the army to get away from the problems of his youth" and ended up involved with local traffickers again. According to the official description, he now wants to "aim higher and try something new."
Lucia, on the other hand, had a childhood marked by violence and "learned to fight as soon as she could walk." Her background includes time in prisons in Leonida, and her profile reveals that she "wants the good life her mother always dreamed of since the days in Liberty City."
The trailer also introduces Cal Hampton, a friend of Jason and a potential accomplice in illicit activities. According to Rockstar, Cal is a conspiracy theorist who "feels safer at home, listening to coast guard communications with a few beers and private tabs open in the browser."
Vice City, already confirmed as a central part of the GTA 6 map, appears as the backdrop in several sequences, although the presence of Liberty City is only referential at this time.
The new content did not provide details about gameplay mechanics, but reinforces the typical open-world proposal of Rockstar, where crimes range from thefts to large organized heists, maintaining the series' tradition.
With GTA 5 surpassing 190 million copies sold, the expectation for GTA 6 remains at unprecedented levels, especially considering the delays and increased investments in development. The company has not yet confirmed if there will be specific editions for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at launch.
