Updating well-received games for the current generation without charging unreasonable next-gen fees is a fair practice that should be an absolute standard throughout the industry. An early listing on the PlayStation Store revealed that Ghost Recon Wildlands will receive a dedicated version for PlayStation 5, offering significant technical enhancements and new content at no extra charge for those who already own the title on PS4.

The leak precedes the 25th-anniversary celebratory broadcast of the series organized by Ubisoft.

The new edition will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, incorporating support for the adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller, reduced loading times, and 3D audio.

The package includes the all-new story mission "Last Rites" along with cosmetic items, with a free trial period from August 6 to 10.

Owners of the digital or physical version on PS4 can claim the upgrade at no cost on PS5 — for the disc version, simply keep it in the drive to play the updated version.

Bringing enhanced performance and a new mission to a beloved title, completely for free, shows a welcome respect for the player's investment. We just need the official confirmation from Ubisoft during the brand's event to seal this excellent package of improvements.
