Ghost of Tsushima has anime adaptation announced!

Sony has been talking about better leveraging its games and turning each of them into actual products. The Last of Us and its HBO series was certainly a big hit and after CES 2025, we are sure the plan must be continuing as we will now have the arrival of a new animation called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends!

Already having announced a new game, to turn “Ghost of” into a franchise, we will now have an anime, featuring some great talents from the Japanese animation industry, and it will arrive on Crunchyroll upon its release!

The production is in collaboration with Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony, a company that has overseen massive titles like Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online. It is being directed by Takanobu Mizuno, whom you probably know best as the director behind The Duel from the anime anthology series Star Wars Visions.

Gen Urobuchi, a big name in the anime sphere having written Psycho Pass and Madoka Magica, is handling the story, with Kamikaze Douga studio taking care of the animation; you may have seen their work in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as they did those classic CG openings. They also did the animation for the movie/series Sand Land, so we can probably expect Legends to also be a CG series.

Not only did Ghost of Tsushima have an animation announced, of course, Sony seems to have given up on the adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn for Netflix, with the adaptation now heading straight to cinemas. Another highlight that I didn't expect to see was the announcement of an adaptation of Helldivers 2, a game that was hugely successful upon its release in 2024!
