The term World Premiere will no longer be used indiscriminately in the trailers presented at The Game Awards 2023, revealed Geoff Keighley, the event's master of ceremonies, during a Q&A session on Twitch.

Keighley explained that the term had become overused, making it difficult to distinguish between a world premiere and other types of announcements.

When asked about the number of World Premieres expected for this year's event, Keighley replied that he had not counted, and the organizers chose to abolish the term because it became challenging to differentiate between a new announcement and a new trailer.

“I don’t know, I haven’t counted, honestly. I think around the same, but I don’t know… also, what is a world premiere?”

“Actually, you’ll see this year, we often put up those cards, ‘World premiere, World premiere.’ We’re kind of moving away from that, just because everything’s kind of – is it a first look? Is it an announcement? Etc. So we just treat it all as great game content.”

Keighley stated that viewers can expect an event with a similar duration and quantity of announcements as in previous years, although he did not want to specify an exact number.

The broadcast of The Game Awards is scheduled to begin at 9h30 pm BRT / 4h30 pm PT / 7h30 pm ET / 12h30 am GMT on December 7th.
