An Epic Games has registered a peak of 2.6 million players in a single weekend, a positive point driven by the launch of the new mini-season The Simpsons in Fortnite. Epic Games celebrated the success on social media, stating they received "the highest number of new and returning Fortnite players since the last festive period".

The peak of 2.6 million players occurred both on Saturday (for the live event that introduced aliens Kang and Kodos to the Island battle royale) and on Sunday (to play on the new Springfield map). The new season brought Fortnite heroes to the Springfield Island, a mash-up full of familiar locations and Easter eggs from the animated series. The fan response to the detailed new map has been positive.

Regarding the audience data, Epic Games highlighted the success of the cross-promotion on other platforms:

"In 48 hours, we welcomed the highest number of new and returning Fortnite players since the last festive period. The first short Fortnite | The Simpsons reached the 1st place on Disney+ in the US today. Move over Shelbyville..."

Despite the good performance, Fortnite faced fluctuations in its number of players this year, competing with Roblox and seasons that "did not resonate with fans". In September, during the insect aliens season, the average daily numbers briefly dropped to around half a million players, although they recovered with the annual Halloween celebrations.

The peak of 2.6 million this weekend is impressive, but not a record for the year. Fortnite.gg recorded higher peaks in other events:

5.7 million players on June 7th (live event Death Star Sabotage, end of Star Wars mini-season).

3.9 million players on August 2nd (end of superhero season).

3.3 million players (launch of Daft Punk Experience).

The challenge now is to ensure that these new and old players remain engaged until the big live event on November 29th, which will conclude the The Simpsons season and kick off the next major era of the game, Chapter Seven, which may include a crossover with Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino and the return of the heroic faction The Seven from Fortnite.

Epic Games celebrated the peak of 2.6 million players in Fortnite with the launch of the mini-season The Simpsons. The event brought the Fortnite | The Simpsons short to 1st place on Disney+ in the US. Despite the strong numbers, the peak was lower than in previous events of the year, such as Death Star Sabotage (5.7 million on June 7th) and the end of the superhero season (3.9 million on August 2nd). The The Simpsons season culminates on November 29th, kicking off Chapter Seven.
