The producer of Final Fantasy 16, Naoki Yoshida, suggested the possibility of a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch 2. During a live stream for Final Fantasy 14, Yoshida commented that "only Nintendo was missing", referring to the platforms where the RPG is not yet available. The game's creative director, Kazutoyo Maehiro, responded that he would "do his best."

These statements indicate that Square Enix may be considering or already working on a port for the new Nintendo console. This strategy aligns with the company's growing multiplatform approach.

The potential arrival of Final Fantasy 16 on the Switch 2 raises questions about performance. The game has already faced optimization challenges on other platforms, with the version for Xbox Series X/S implementing a smoother resolution to maintain frame rate stability. Performance on less powerful hardware like the Switch 2 would be a crucial point.

Previously, Final Fantasy 16 did not achieve ideal sales performance on the Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, reports indicate that third-party games in general are not selling as well as expected on the Switch 2.

Square Enix seems willing to expand the reach of its titles, despite technical risks and sales scenarios. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is also planned for the Switch 2, solidifying Square Enix's commitment to the Nintendo platform. Technical execution and market receptivity will dictate the success of this endeavor.

Do you believe that Square Enix will be able to optimize Final Fantasy 16 for the Nintendo Switch 2 in a way that ensures a satisfactory experience, considering the hardware limitations and performance concerns on other platforms?
