Felvidek is a JRPG that takes us on a journey through time
Dungeons, castles, knights, magic. All of this brings to mind a common RPG, right?
But what makes Felvidek, the new game from independent developer Josef Pavelka (Brozef), unique and intriguing are the elements beyond the obvious.
Felvidek is a JRPG set in 15th century Slovakia, where the player controls an alcoholic knight named Pavol, who must defend his land from the Hussites and Ottomans who want to take it over.
A bit of history, although the game does not feature historical events verbatim: The Hussites were followers of a movement started in Bohemia in the 15th century, based on the ideas of theologian Jan Hus. They fought against the supremacy of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church, later joining the Protestant Reformation revolutionaries.
What makes the game even more unique is its visual style: in addition to the top-down perspective camera, the sepia-tone 3D graphics harken back to games from the old PS1 era, taking us on a little trip back in time.
In terms of mechanics and combat, the game offers turn-based battles, allowing players to acquire new equipment and supplies for greater success in battles. Additionally, there is an interesting dynamic between the protagonist and NPCs scattered throughout the world, encouraging players to explore all narrative elements to the fullest.
Felvidek has a duration of 2 to 3 hours, is available on Steam and is compatible with the Windows system.
