Epic Games Sues Creators and Distributors of Fortnite Cheats
Epic Games has initiated legal proceedings against the creator of cheating software used in Fortnite, as well as against various resellers of this software. The lawsuit is part of the company's ongoing efforts to keep Fortnite free from cheaters.
The lawsuit primarily targets an individual known as Sincey Cheats (Ediz Atas), who, according to Epic, "develops, updates, and maintains cheating software" for Fortnite. Epic claims that Sincey Cheats sells subscription access to the cheating software called Vanta. In an update released on its newsroom on X (formerly Twitter) on June 10, 2025, Epic Games stated:
"An update on our fight against cheating in Fortnite. We filed a new lawsuit against an individual who developed and sold cheating software that helped players see through walls and have automatic aim. We’re also going after people who helped sell this software. Creating and selling..."
The lawsuit also involves five unidentified individuals who are accused of reselling the cheating software Vanta at similar prices. They used platforms like Discord, Telegram, and various web pages to market the cheats. Epic alleges that one of the defendants even posed as an employee of the company so that their promotional videos on YouTube could be reposted after being removed due to a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) claim by Epic itself.
Epic Games reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance against cheating: "Epic does not tolerate cheating and prohibits the use of cheating software in Fortnite," the lawsuit states. The company adds that Sincey Cheats constantly updated the Vanta software to bypass Fortnite's anti-cheating measures, later advertising the software as "undetectable."
Epic is seeking for the defendants to surrender all materials related to the cheating software, including all domain names associated with the sale of Vanta. The company is also seeking compensation for damages and restitution, as well as the payment of legal fees. The legal action comes as Fortnite has launched its latest season, Chapter 6 Season 3, with a superhero theme and the appearance of various DC Comics characters.
