Emma Frost shines (literally) in Marvel Rivals gameplay
The White Queen has arrived. And she's not here to play around. Amidst the growing hype of the second season of Marvel Rivals, the powerful Emma Frost makes her entrance with style, crystal, and combat. NetEase Games has officially revealed a gameplay video of the new character, confirming her debut as a Tank (Vanguard) and making it clear that she won't just be another addition to the game's roster - she promises to dominate the battlefield.
Bright and ruthless Tank
With 650 life points, Emma Frost takes on the role of one of the most versatile tanks in the game. The twist? The ability to switch between two forms with completely different combat styles: her Human Form and the iconic Diamond Form. Each of these versions brings a set of specific abilities, creating multiple possible strategies for the player who knows how to switch at the right time.
Diamond Form Abilities:
Basic Attack (Left Mouse Button): direct body blow;
Charging Grapple (E): throws the enemy over her head;
Powerful Kick (Right Mouse Button): pushes the opponent away;
Transformation (Left Shift): switches between Human and Diamond form.
Human Form Abilities:
Psychic Beam (Left Mouse Button): long-range attack with 70 ammo;
Psychic Totem (E): causes continuous area damage;
Mental Shield (Right Mouse Button): defense against projectiles and frontal attacks;
Ultimate (Q): devastating psychic barrage in an area, drawing enemies to the center of the attack.
One of the most attention-grabbing details in the video released is that Emma Frost can even block Iron Man's ultimate attack with her shield - a clear demonstration that she is here to be respected.
A character with personality and history
In the lore of Marvel Rivals, Emma Frost is not just a powerful combatant. She is described as a millionaire socialite, fashion icon, and lethal telepath who fights for a safe world for mutants. The character, originally created in the Marvel Comics comics, has always divided opinions between heroine and antagonist, but in any role, she has always maintained her aura of authority.
The addition of Emma Frost to the game's character roster marks a bold step for NetEase Games, showing a willingness to expand the game with less obvious but extremely iconic Marvel characters. It's worth noting that in the first season, the cast included names like Iron Man, Storm, Black Panther, Rocket Raccoon, and Loki, creating a solid base of heroes and villains with varied styles.
Marvel Rivals continues to grow
Marvel Rivals, a third-person arena-style shooter game, is still in beta phase, but it has been receiving constant updates and showing potential to compete with genre giants like Overwatch. The arrival of Emma Frost reinforces this ambition, bringing a new layer of tactical gameplay, focusing on resistance, area control, and mass damage.
With no set date for the full release, the game continues with open and closed tests, collecting feedback from the community. With the character announcement and new content from the second season, the expectation is that the number of active players will increase significantly.
If you haven't seen the gameplay yet, it's worth checking out Emma Frost's performance on the official NetEase Games channel - because, on the battlefield of Marvel Rivals, the shine is not just aesthetic, it's lethal.
