Elden Ring: Miyazaki confirms that IP will not be abandoned!
The Elden Ring DLC was definitely one of the big events of the year, so much so that it was nominated for game of the year, and with all this success, we started to wonder when we will be able to see the IP of FromSoftware return and we still do not have concrete answers for that.
However... during the PlayStation Partner Awards in Japan, as reported by IGN Japan, director Hidetaka Miyazaki, unsurprisingly, found himself answering questions about the possibility of more Elden Ring.
Obviously he wouldn't come giving away the fish for free and revealing all his ideas and possibilities for the future. Miyazaki just said:
"We have no specific plans to develop Elden Ring 2"
However, a specific plan does not mean that the franchise is dead, nor does it mean that it cannot receive more updates over time!
FromSoftware did not want to dilute the story of Elden Ring by releasing it slowly through multiple expansions, but that does not prevent the studio from telling new stories within that setting. Which is good news, because it's a killer setting. In fact, Miyazaki continued to clarify that his response did not imply that Elden Ring has reached the end of the line. It may still have a future.
"I want to convey that we are not denying the possibility of developing the Elden Ring IP in some way in the future", he said. Pretty vague! Technically, "developing the IP" doesn't exactly mean a video game. Previously, Miyazaki discussed how Elden Ring could be adapted into a movie or TV show, as long as FromSoftware found a "strong partner".
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the idea of Elden Ring on screens, as the way their games tell the story is unique and very complicated to convey to the screen, of course, this all depends on which parts of the story. Really telling the story of the characters or even the bosses we fight against would be interesting, but our journey is better when it's just ours...
