EA fixes Rush in Battlefield 6, but issues remain

After just 24 hours of open beta, Electronic Arts is already implementing fixes in Battlefield 6 in response to player criticism of the Rush mode. The mode, which is a fan favorite in the franchise, has been heavily criticized by the community due to issues that make the experience chaotic and frustrating.

The main change implemented by EA is the reduction of the MCOMs detonation time, the objectives of the Rush mode. The time has been cut from 45 seconds to 30 seconds, aiming to "improve the balance between attacking and defending players."

However, the fix does not address the deeper issues of the mode, which continue to be a source of frustration for players. One of the main points of contention is the spacing of objectives and spawn areas, which facilitate "spawn trap" on maps like Iberian Offensive and Empire State.

Another issue that bothers players is that the Rush mode is limited to 12v12 matches. The absence of a larger number of players takes away the sense of scale and chaos that defined the mode in previous titles. The community has described the experience as "a total mess," which sums up the frustration with the mode.

The imposition of open weapon classes in the Rush mode is also a point of friction. Instead of allowing players to choose between the list of open weapons or the traditional closed weapon classes, the beta forces the player to use open weapons, which displeases fans who prefer classic gameplay.

EA acted quickly to try to save the Rush mode. The speed of the fix is commendable and shows that the company is listening to player feedback. However, the issue is not just the detonation time, but rather the fundamental design of the mode. The limitations of 12v12 and the spawn trap problems are major challenges. It remains to be seen if EA will be able to fix the mode before launch.

Can EA fix Rush with minor changes, or does DICE need more time to overhaul the mode before the full game release?
