Disney Illusion Island may arrive on PS5 on May 30, say dataminers
And here we go again with that typical mix of nostalgic excitement and a certain discomfort over questionable commercial decisions. Disney Illusion Island, up until now an exclusive to the Nintendo Switch since its release on July 28, 2023, may be about to gain a new home — this time on the PlayStation 5. The news didn't come through an official announcement from Disney Interactive or Nintendo, but rather from attentive dataminers who scoured the PSDeals.net website and found the bomb: the game is listed with a release date set for May 30, 2025, exclusively in digital format.
And the most curious part? No version for PC or Xbox — at least, not for now. The temporary exclusivity seems to be dissolving into a rather silent transition, almost as if Disney were testing the waters without much fanfare.
A cute and familiar metroidvania — now with playable Uncle Scrooge
For those who haven't played yet, Disney Illusion Island is a 2D side-scrolling platformer, reminiscent of Rayman Legends — and this is no coincidence. Visually charming, with hand-drawn animations, orchestrated soundtrack and original voice acting with the classic character voices, the game puts players in control of the classic quartet: Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck and Goofy.
The mission? Save the mysterious island of Monoth by recovering three mystical books. Players can explore the world solo or in local cooperative mode for up to four players, with an emphasis on teamwork — there is no direct combat, so the focus is on puzzles, exploration, and movement.
And according to the description found on the PlayStation Store, the PS5 version will not only come with the base game. The following additional contents are confirmed:
Keeper Up
Mystery in Monoth
And the CASH update, which brings the legendary Uncle Scrooge McDuck as a playable character
"Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy embark on a new adventure to find three mystical books and save the mysterious island of Monoth," states the official game description on the Nintendo eShop.
A good game, but with proposal limitations
Despite its impeccable aesthetics and undeniable charisma, Disney Illusion Island divided opinions in the gaming community. Many fans praised the art direction, smooth animation, and family appeal, but some criticized the lack of variety in challenges, the absence of combat, and the excessive reliance on nostalgia.
In reviews published at the time of the original release for the Switch, the game was rated as a pleasant experience for families and Disney fans, but limited for those seeking a deeper and more challenging platformer.
With the arrival on the PS5, perhaps the title will find a new audience — or at least gain a new lease of life as Disney tries to establish itself in the electronic gaming market after successes and missteps with franchises like Kingdom Hearts, Disney Speedstorm, and Dreamlight Valley.

The lingering question is: why so much mystery? With a catalog full of beloved characters and a massive PS5 installed base, it would be natural for Disney to make noise with this re-release. But until the official announcement comes, dataminers continue to deliver what fans want to know — and we continue to hope for versions on other platforms, especially for those playing on Xbox or PC.
If you missed this adventure on the Switch, maybe May 30 will be the perfect opportunity to rediscover this magical island — or at least give Donald Duck and his gang another chance.
