Joe Blackburn, the director of Destiny 2, expressed dissatisfaction with Bungie's recent communication about the state of the game and came forward publicly on August 15th in a 16-minute video posted on X (Twitter)
Blackburn addressed the issues that arose after a "State of the Game" blog article published on the official Destiny website on August 3rd.

Additionally, Blackburn mentioned that Bungie plans to introduce more testing modes in the main playlists and will grant all players free Eververse armor in the 22nd season.
The next major content for Destiny 2, titled "The Final Shape", is scheduled to be released in February 2024.
This content is expected to conclude the narrative of Light and Darkness, which has been building since the game's original expansion. These changes represent Bungie's response to community concerns and demonstrate an ongoing effort to improve the player experience in Destiny 2.

He also acknowledged that Bungie's current strategy regarding PvP maps is not yielding the desired results and announced a change in approach. Currently, Bungie releases "a new PvP map and a few reprisals per year," but Blackburn admitted that this isn't working as intended. In the upcoming year, the studio will release a single free map pack for all players."A few weeks ago, we provided communication in the 'State of the Game' that didn't meet our standards in terms of what all of you expect from this type of communication," Blackburn admitted.
Â
He explained that this change will allow for the creation of more focused and diverse maps, rather than trying to create a map that caters to everyone's preferences. This approach aims to bring greater variety in a single update."We are changing our philosophy. Instead of a continuous stream of maps throughout the year, we will focus our efforts on a single free map pack for everyone," Blackburn revealed.
