Days Gone Remastered gains PSSR support on PS5 Pro

Days Gone Remastered, reissued with technical improvements for the new generation, received this week a new update focused on performance on the PlayStation 5 Pro. The highlight of the patch is the optimized application of PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology, aimed at improving image quality and frame rate at higher resolutions.

The Bend Studio detailed that the "Balance" graphics mode was specifically adjusted for the PS5 Pro, allowing players to prioritize stable performance without sacrificing visual quality. The update also corrects performance-related issues in the game overall and refines the application of PSSR, an exclusive technology for PlayStation 5 family consoles that uses advanced machine learning-based upscaling algorithms.

Other technical corrections include adjustments to the DualSense adaptive triggers, especially during acceleration with the motorcycle - a central gameplay mechanic of Days Gone. The update reduced the resistance force when accelerating, improving control and making driving more responsive. The user interface also received adjustments for compatibility with various languages, correcting display errors reported by players in non-English-speaking regions.

Days Gone Remastered is available as a standalone version or as a paid upgrade for owners of the original version released in 2019 for PlayStation 4. The new version includes graphic improvements, 60 fps support, faster loading times, and now specific optimizations for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Although Bend Studio has not confirmed new narrative content, the maintenance of the title shows a continued effort for technical updates, even after the studio confirmed in 2021 that "they are not working on Days Gone 2". The relaunch and updates indicate an attempt by Sony to keep the game alive in the new generation, especially with the increase in the audience on PlayStation Plus Extra, where the game is also available.

The application of PSSR in existing games reinforces Sony's strategy of leveraging the PS5 Pro's hardware, which has image reconstruction capability for 4K with greater efficiency, and should be a technical differential in future reissues and optimized titles.
