Crytek lays off 15% of the team and puts Crysis on hold

The restructuring comes a few months after Crytek put the development of the next game in the Crysis series on hold in the third quarter of 2024. Since then, the company had been reallocating professionals to work on Hunt: Showdown 1896, a project that continues to grow, but which, according to the company, is still not sufficient to sustain the previous structure of the developer.

“Even with ongoing efforts to reduce costs and cut operational expenses, we determined that the cuts were unavoidable to move forward,” stated Crytek in the statement.

The company ensured that the affected employees will receive severance packages and support in professional relocation.

The future of Crytek

Despite the difficulties, Crytek stated it is committed to expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 and evolving the CRYENGINE, its graphic engine. The multiplayer shooting game remains the company's main focus, promising to continue offering new content and improvements for the community.
