Crimson Desert receives a shared saving feature
This major technical addition comes as part of the latest patch released by the South Korean developer. The unified functionality allows for a seamless transition between consoles and computers, avoiding the extreme hassle of having to restart a journey from absolute zero just because you decided to switch screens while playing. The integrated ecosystem operates through a single and global save file, requiring only that users keep their profiles properly linked to a single credential compatible with the producer's infrastructure. The initiative to unify platforms for free and without hassle is excellent, setting an example for other companies that insist on confining players to a single hardware.
The practical implementation of the cloud save mechanism is already fully active on the servers and can be utilized by those who have purchased the game in the virtual stores of Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Only the community using Mac computers will need a bit more patience, as the corresponding patch for Apple's system is still awaiting the go-ahead for distribution. It's a minor inconvenience for Mac owners, but the fact that the main ecosystem of consoles and PCs is already intercommunicating makes up for this regional delay.
"With the arrival of cross-save, Crimson Desert takes another step towards offering an integrated experience between consoles and PC," highlighted the press release.
The data package made available for download by the Pearl Abyss team is not limited to this network infrastructure convenience, also bringing a thorough refinement to fix issues that were bothering gameplay. The programmers implemented precise fixes for stuck animations, problems with ambient sound effects, and erratic behaviors of NPCs' artificial intelligence. Another headache solved was the complete halt in the progression of the side mission titled “A Dwarf's Concern,” which had been stalling many players' advancement, as well as adjustments in combat technique balancing and general improvements in text localization for the multiple languages supported by the title.
The development team took the opportunity in the patch to eliminate a bizarre and hilarious bug that had been generating complaints in forums: the hero lost all control commands if a pet jumped on the bed exactly at the moment of an interaction with the environment. Errors involving the behavior of mounts and random audio glitches during high graphical density moments were also removed from the game's code. It's great to see a studio actively working to smooth out the edges of its creation, delivering an increasingly polished product and respecting the time invested by dedicated consumers within the game's universe.
