Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 still does not target Switch 2

Despite being one of the biggest highlights of 2025, the RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 still does not have a confirmed version for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, the possibility is not ruled out. According to recent comments by Guillaume Broche, the game director and CEO of the studio Sandfall Interactive, there is openness to explore new platforms — but without any confirmation at the moment.

In an interview given to YouTuber mistermv, and later translated by MP1st, Broche stated that, after the success of the game, the team received several proposals and is still evaluating the next steps. When asked directly about a version for Switch 2, he replied that it is "something that could be interesting."

"Given the success of the RPG, the team received many new opportunities and is still deciding what to do next. Regarding the possibility of a release on the Switch 2, it is something that could be interesting."

Released in early 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has won critics over with its visual style inspired by French impressionism, turn-based RPG mechanics influenced by games like Persona and Final Fantasy, and a dark narrative that follows a group of characters trying to prevent the world's annihilation by a mystical entity called "La Peintresse."

The title is already considered a strong contender for Game of the Year, alongside names like Monster Hunter Wilds and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, so far, Clair Obscur is only available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with no version for Nintendo platforms.

The alleged interest from the studio comes in a context where Nintendo projects the sale of 15 million units of the Switch 2 by March 2026, as estimated in their latest financial reports. A version of Expedition 33 for the new platform would certainly help to further expand the reach of the title, especially among the Japanese audience, which has a strong affinity for the RPG genre.
