CD Projekt Red denies partnership with Sweet Baby in The Witcher 4
The CEO of CD Projekt RED, Michał Nowakowski, denied rumors of a supposed collaboration between the studio and the company Sweet Baby in the development of The Witcher 4. In a recent statement, Nowakowski stated:
"We are not working and have never worked with Sweet Baby. I have never heard of them until recently."
The rumors started after the release of the first trailer of The Witcher 4 in December 2024, which confirmed Ciri as the protagonist. Some speculations linked the "woke" elements of the game to Sweet Baby's approach, a company founded by former Ubisoft employees Kim Belair and Ari MacGillivray, specializing in narrative consulting to promote diversity and safe environments in the gaming industry.
Nowakowski took the opportunity to reinforce that the creative decisions of the game are independent and based on the universe of Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the books that inspired the franchise. The choice of Ciri as the protagonist is not random, but based on the original texts themselves.
He also emphasized that the narrative director of The Witcher 4 is the same as The Witcher 1, ensuring that the new approach was carefully planned, respecting the narrative construction of the series.
With The Witcher 4 in production, the studio continues to work on maintaining the authenticity of the franchise, while distancing themselves from unfounded associations about their creative process.
