Cast of Thunderbolts discovers participation in Avengers: Doomsday without knowing who else will be in the film
If the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for its tight control of spoilers, the production of Avengers: Doomsday is taking this practice to new levels of secrecy. Not even the main cast of Thunderbolts, a movie premiering on May 1, 2025, knew exactly who, among their colleagues, would also be part of the new Avengers adventure.
During recent interviews, David Harbour (the Red Guardian) and Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent) revealed that, although they knew they were called by Marvel Studios to participate in Avengers: Doomsday, they had no information about the involvement of the other members of Thunderbolts. Worse: they couldn't even talk to each other about the subject to avoid possible information leaks.
"We know we're in the movie because we were called to film, but we don't know who else is there. We don't have the full script, just our individual scenes," said Harbour.
Actor Lewis Pullman, who plays Bob/Sentry, also shared similar frustration. Initially, Pullman believed that his character would only have a role in Thunderbolts, but he found out that his journey will expand in the MCU. "It's exciting to realize that Sentry will have a larger future in Marvel, but at the moment I also don't know absolutely anything about what I will do in Avengers: Doomsday," Pullman commented.
This level of compartmentalization shows how strict Marvel Studios has become after years dealing with leaks. By sending only the specific scenes of each actor, the studio aims to preserve the mystery both for the audience and for those involved in the filming.
So far, details about the plot of Avengers: Doomsday remain completely secret. The film will be a key piece for the new phase of the MCU, but before that, the journey begins with the release of Thunderbolts, a project that brings together anti-heroes and morally ambiguous figures from the franchise.
With the strategy of keeping everyone in the dark — even those who are part of the cast —, Marvel Studios promises to turn Avengers: Doomsday into one of the most unpredictable films in its history.
