Capcom breaks records for the 8th year with Monster Hunter on the rise
At the closing of the 2024 fiscal year (ended on March 31, 2025), Capcom reaffirmed its position as one of the most consistent publishers in the industry by achieving new sales and profit records — for the eighth consecutive time. The Japanese company, owner of franchises like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Monster Hunter, reported significant results to its investors and reinforced ambitious goals for the upcoming cycle.
The net sales reached $1.14 billion, representing an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year. The operating profit also grew 11.7%, reaching $327 million. The growth in operating revenue was also highlighted: this is the 12th consecutive year of increase in this indicator, a sign of stability in a volatile market.
A large part of this performance is due to the solid performance of the games division. Capcom sold 51.87 million units, 5 million more than in 2023. The absolute highlight was Monster Hunter Wilds, which surpassed 10 million units sold in the first weeks after its release, confirming the continuous appeal of the series in the global scenario.
"Capcom will focus on expanding its main franchises while exploring new growth opportunities, especially with the new generation of hardware," the company communicated in the report.
The optimism also extends to the 2025 fiscal year, which started on April 1st. Capcom is betting on the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 as a key factor to continue expanding its games. It is confirmed that titles like Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will be available for the new hybrid Nintendo console, with the latter scheduled for release on June 5th.
With a clear strategy of valuing established IPs, technical reissues, and a strong multiplatform presence, Capcom remains a positive exception in a challenging period for the industry — in contrast to layoffs and cuts that marked the fiscal year of companies like Electronic Arts, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Microsoft Gaming.
If it maintains the growth pace and delivers the promised titles, the publisher has everything to achieve a ninth consecutive year of records, consolidating its most profitable phase since its foundation.
