Call of Duty: Developers admit that anticheat did not meet their expectations

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was one of the big hits of the year, no doubt, however, even before the game was released, players were already bothered by the anticheat, which has in its programming, guidelines that are a bit too complicated when it comes to separating the wheat from the chaff.

However, even after banning some players without reason, the important thing is that Activision wants to do better!

"After a series of updates, our systems are in a better place today in all modes," says Activision in a blog post. "However, we missed the mark for integrating the Ricochet anticheat on the launch of Season 01 — especially for Ranked Play.

"We understand that the promise of glory and notoriety from the Ranked Play leaderboards makes Ranked Play an attractive target for cheaters. For this reason, our teams have focused especially on turning the tide to deliver the competitive arena that our players seek."

Black Ops 6 and other games do suffer from hackers, but Warzone tends to get much worse, mainly because it is a free mode in the game, which facilitates the development of tools.

Not only that, but not all players know how to recognize a cheater using cheats, so it becomes even more difficult to be sure, or to find out who is playing well, and who is just being an idiot.

In addition to boosting, which is when a low-ranking player joins someone better to help them rank up, some cheaters have been even more creative in creating bot lobbies, which they could farm for kills and SR.

To get a better understanding of nefarious activities like the ones above, Activision has gathered some updates that players can expect to see for Ricochet. More account bans have been promised thanks to faster execution response times, and this process has also been updated for faster synchronization of changes in the leaderboard. Activision also announced plans to significantly expand the Replay Investigation rendering farm — this is what it uses to generate clips for examination.

"We have also increased the dedicated group for manual review of clips (based on a priority order that favors detections)," says Activision. "In recent weeks, Replay tool updates have been highly effective in validating detections and reports, providing additional training for AI systems for the anti-cheat team, and removing cheaters." The upcoming seasons will also see new server-side protections along with kernel driver updates.

The promises are good, even if they only improve detection speed, however, the Shadow Bans have not yet been addressed, which is one of the worst problems faced by more "hardcore" players. Many are sent to the hacker limbo, having to compete in matches against despicable individuals, making the game unplayable over time. Unfortunately, we are left without answers to this problem.
