Sony revealed in its latest financial report that service games continue to be a key revenue driver for PlayStation, representing over 40% of the revenue generated by first-party software between July and September 2025, a similar number to that achieved in the same quarter in 2024.

The positive point of this segment was Helldivers 2 and MLB: The Show 25, cited as the main contributors to the revenue generation in the gaming division.

Helldivers 2 was mentioned with special emphasis due to its extremely good performance after its launch on Xbox consoles, which allowed for a significant increase in sales compared to the same quarter in 2024.

However, the critical tone of the report was directed at Bungie and Destiny 2. Sony reported that the developer and its flagship title "did not meet expectations" set at the time of acquisition. Destiny 2 is not achieving the expected level of activity and revenue.

Sony was forced to lower revenue forecast for the entire segment and incurred losses due to Bungie assets. Despite the negative results from the developer, Sony assured that "it will continue to work to improve the situation of Bungie and Destiny 2".

Helldivers 2 and MLB: The Show 25 boosted Sony's service games, which represented over 40% of the first-party revenue between July and September 2025. In contrast, Sony incurred losses and lowered the revenue forecast due to Bungie and Destiny 2, which failed to meet the expectations of activity and revenue.
