Take-Two, which acquired Gearbox for $460 million, confirmed in a press release that "the next installment in the series" was already in "active development," and it seems things are moving full steam ahead.

Despite the disastrous reception of the Borderlands movie, which reportedly had a budget of over $100 million, Gearbox's focus appears firmly on the future.
