Borderlands 4 shows good performance on PS5 despite leaks

While Gearbox prepares for the release of Borderlands 4, a streamer who got the game for PS5 in advance offered a glimpse of console performance information. Despite developers' attempts to contain leaks, the first impressions about performance are promising, albeit with reservations.

The streamer, who streamed 3 hours of the game before having his account temporarily suspended by Twitch, said in a post on Reddit that, in performance mode setting, the game "runs smoothly" and "feels like more than 60fps." This is exciting news for console players getting ready for the midnight launch on September 12th. PC players can also celebrate, as the game will be released today at 12pm ET, 9am PT, and 5am BST.

The stream leak is the latest in a series of incidents that Gearbox has had to deal with, including the "accidental" leak of Conan O'Brien. The streamer platinrusse confirmed that the attempt to leak the game was worth the "2-day Twitch ban." The leak also brought to light some issues. The game's fidelity mode "runs very poorly" on the base PS5, and to the frustration of many players, the game lacks an FOV slider. The game also requires a 4GB installation update and supports splitscreen in horizontal or vertical orientations.

The "leak-batting" process of Gearbox continues, but the leaked performance data is a mix of good and bad news. While the performance mode seems to be the best option, the performance in fidelity mode and the lack of customization features for the gaming experience are points of concern that will only be confirmed with the official release.
