Borderlands 4 anticipates release and gets full gameplay in the new State of Play
Borderlands 4 will be released on September 12, 2025, anticipating its arrival by 11 days compared to the original date of September 23. The information was confirmed by Sony in a post on the official PlayStation blog, which also announced a special State of Play dedicated to the game, with a scheduled airing on Wednesday, April 30, at 6 pm (Brasilia time).
The broadcast will have approximately 20 minutes in duration and will feature a detailed gameplay presentation by Graeme Timmins (Creative Director) and Anthony Nicholson (Senior Project Producer), both from Gearbox Software. The proposal will be to show guided gameplay segments, revealing missions, weapons, new action abilities, progression systems, and the new characters that make up the main cast of the new adventure in the Pandora universe.
Additionally, the official cover art of Borderlands 4 was released, highlighting classic visual elements of the franchise, with a refined graphic style for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The broadcast is also expected to delve into technical details of the game, such as improvements in the loot system, online co-op, and cross-play integration, features briefly mentioned in previous announcements by 2K Games and Gearbox.
“We can't wait to show how we've evolved the classic pillars of the franchise, without losing the humor and chaotic action that fans know”, said Graeme Timmins.
The broadcast can be watched on the official PlayStation channels on YouTube and Twitch. This will be the first major gameplay showcase since the official announcement of the game in 2024.
